HWTN Committees
Our committees work to support our neighborhood and organization. See below to learn more about each committee’s mission and how to join one!
Special Events – The Special Events Committee plans and organizes HWTN’s annual Holiday Party, and other special events deemed desirable. This committee is responsible for planning, budgeting and publicizing the various events, soliciting donations as may be required, and maintaining the events’ budgets within defined goals. Finance – This committee manages HWTN’s budget and finances and works with the corporation’s consultant to assure appropriate controls and reporting are maintained. The committee shall develop the annual budget and present it to the Board for approval prior to the start of the fiscal year on July 1st. Nominating – The committee is responsible for reaching out to HWTN Trustees, Members, and neighbors to recreuit leadership within the organization. They put together & present a slate of officers & trusteess that is voted on during the November Membership Meeting. We are currently looking for new volunteers for this position for the current year, contact us to volunteer or for more information.
Buildings & Institutions – This committee is responsible for monitoring and advising the Board about proposed building projects (such as new construction, demolitions, building additions, changes in use or major modifications to structures or roadways) and zoning changes that will have an impact on the historic integrity for the neighborhood.
Communications – This committee is responsible for maintaining HWTN’s social media and actively posting information relevant to the neighborhood. This committee assists the various committees that may have special communication needs throughout the year. The committee will also maintain a relationship with media outlets and suggest content as a way of building the visibility of the neighborhood and HWTN as an organization. Contact Deb Holton, V.P. Membership – Help protect the neighborhood you love by joining the Membership Committee. Having a large and representative membership base ensures that we keep abreast of changing conditions in the historic area and respond to them most effectively . HWTN is one of the city’s oldest existing neighborhood organizations and includes the largest group of historic homes in Wisconsin. We work to support historic preservation and neighborhood improvement in our area. . Our neighborhood has been rated as one of the most walkable in Milwaukee.
