Members-Only Home & Garden Parties in August, September and October; Holiday Party Set for December

Remember when we all knew our neighbors? With such busy lives, neighbors rarely have time to get to know one another anymore…let alone socialize.

garden-tour-18The HWTN Special Events Committee wants to help neighbors get to know each other. Several members have opened their homes this summer for garden parties, with August 23, September 13 and October 11, 2014, socials now on the calendar. And the homes we’ll be partying in are fantastic, historic gems.

The parties are free but are open only to members. Each guest brings a dessert or appetizer as well as their own wine or beer and drink glasses.

Want to know the times and locations? Ready to RSVP? Please check your member emails for details. If you can’t find the info, please email us at rsvp@hwtn.org for more information.

Also, mark your calendar for our members-only Dec. 12 holiday party, once again hosted by Andy Nunemaker at his incomparable N. Terrace Ave mansion. Details to follow.

Not a current member (our membership year starts Oct. 1)? Then it’s time to become one, so you attend these great member events. Our website offers online and snail mail options to join or renew. Do it today!

HWTN 2012 holiday party packs historic Milwaukee mansion

Historic Water Tower Neighborhood’s annual holiday party on Nov. 30 drew 125 members to a fantastic evening in one of Milwaukee’s most beautiful historic homes.

In addition to the great socializing, food and libations, party-goers were treated to an inside peak at member Andy Nunemaker’s gorgeous and festively decorated Terrace Avenue mansion.

The party was a huge success thanks to the hard work of many members, including Lise Sadagopan, who coordinated the event, Sandra McSweeney, Laurel Maney, Donna Neal, Adrian Zilvetti, Gina Spang, Thea Kovac, Mary Beth Geraci, Toby Reynolds, Mary Kelley and, of course, gracious host Andy Nunemaker.

A recent Milwaukee Magazine article showed Andy’s house in full holiday decoration for a Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra benefit. If you couldn’t attend our party, check out these pictures from the magazine.

The party was covered by “Boris and Doris on the Town” in the Shepherd Express newspaper. Boris and Doris wrote:

Celebrating History:
Historic Water Tower Neighborhood members got into the holiday spirit at a beautiful house party held at the stately manse of the organization’s past president, Andy Nunemaker. In addition to current president, Foley & Lardner attorney Lloyd Dickinson, other former presidents on hand were Pat Van Alyea with her daughter Stephanie, Fran and Mary Wasielewski, John Bach, Mike Benton, Jeff Bentoff and his wife, Julie Penman, Sandra McSweeney with her husband, Marc, and David Remstad, NML’s chief actuary. Pat Small and his sister Virginia also attended, along with David Rubin and Peter and Thea Kovac.

A big thanks from HWTN to all our members who attended and to those who volunteered their time and talent to help make this party the neighborhood holiday event of the year!
