Neighborhood’s Famous Frank Lloyd Wright “Bogk House” Featured in Journal Sentinel

wright wright-copyThe famous Frank Lloyd Wright “Bogk House,” one of our neighborhood’s unique historic homes, is featured in a recent edition of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The story features a photo gallery and an interview with one of the owners, Barbara Elsner, a devoted Wright advocate and a founder of Historic Water Tower Neighborhood.

 

HWTN Co-Founder, Preservation Leader Barbara Elsner Honored by Historic Milwaukee Inc.

Barbara Elsner, one of Historic Water Tower Neighborhood’s founders and a national leader in historic preservation, was honored May 9, 2016, by Historic Milwaukee Inc. (HMI) with the group’s Spaces & Traces 2016 Preservation Award.

IMG_6220 (1) IMG_6226In honoring Barbara, HMI noted her board membership on many preservation groups; helping found HWTN and the Frank Lloyd Building Conservancy; and work that led to the City of Milwaukee’s preservation ordinance.

Barbara and her husband Bob purchased and preserved Wright’s iconic Bogk House in 1954 on Milwaukee’s East Side. where they still reside.

Barbara was given the award at a ceremony held at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.

Nov. 4 Annual Meeting to Feature HWTN Co-Founder, Preservationist Barbara Elsner

Historic preservationist, Frank Lloyd Wright conservationist and Historic Water Tower Neighborhood co-founder Barbara Elsner will speak at our annual meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday Nov. 4, giving us her perspective on our group’s past, present and future.

Elsner copyBarbara, one of a number of residents involved in founding HWTN in 1973, has been a leader in historic preservation, with a focus on our neighborhood and Frank Lloyd Wright buildings. Barbara and her husband Bob, a former HWTN president, live in a restored Wright home.

Wednesday’s meeting also includes election of HWTN’s 2016 officers and trustees. All HWTN members are eligible to vote.

The meeting takes place in the Marcia Coles Community Room in the Lake Park Pavilion. Come between 6:30 p.m. and 7 for refreshments prior to the meeting courtesy of Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro.
