Primaries for the HWTN-area seat in the Wisconsin Assembly, Milwaukee County Sheriff and Wisconsin Attorney General take place Tuesday Aug. 12.

Also on the ballot are primaries for Wisconsin governor and U.S. Congress representative.

In the case of the Democratic primaries for Assembly and sheriff seats, the Aug. 12  winners will be the only major-party candidates on the Nov. 4 general election ballot, as no Republicans have filed to run.

In the Assembly race, incumbent Rep. Jon Richards, who has held the seat since 1998, is running for state attorney general and is not be seeking re-election. The Assembly candidates are:

For sheriff, incumbent David A. Clarke Jr. faces Milwaukee Police Department Lieutenant Chris Moews.

The governor’s primary features a matchup between former Wisconsin Secretary of Commerce Mary Burke and State Rep. Brett Hulsey. The winner will face Gov. Scott Walker on Nov. 4.

For our area congressional seat, incumbent Cong. Gwen Moore faces former State Sen. Gary George for the Democratic nomination. On the Republican side, Dan Sebring, a car shop owner, faces David King, a pastor.

And in the attorney general Democratic primary, the race is between Jefferson County D.A. Susan V. Happ, Dane County D.A. Ismael Ozanne and State Rep. Jon Richards. The winner faces Republican candidate Waukesha County D.A. Brad Schimel in November.

Whoever you favor, be sure to vote on Aug. 12!
