The history of Milwaukee’s Public Policy Forum, which was founded 100 years ago, will be in the spotlight at HWTN’s Feb. 6 meeting.
HWTN board member and author Jeff Bentoff will present highlights from “Just The Facts,” his book on the group’s 100-year history.
The Forum is a private, non-profit, independent research organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of public policy decision-making in southeast Wisconsin.
As it begins its centennial year, the group received recognition in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel for its success as an impartial research group that has long helped improve Milwaukee governments and the community. In describing the history in a recent Journal Sentinel op ed, Bentoff wrote that the Forum “can be credited for helping city government implement needed accounting procedures, inspection services, centralized purchasing, civil service rules, a reduction in the number of aldermanic wards and much more.”
The print edition of “Just The Facts” is available to Forum members and by request. A digital version can be viewed and downloaded for free.
The monthly meeting and talk takes place at 7 p.m. in the Marcia Coles Community Room of the Lake Park Pavilion. Join us between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. for casual, pre-meeting conversation with your neighbors. Plus, we’ll have coffee and cookies courtesy of Bartolotta’s Lake Park Bistro.
